This project involved a 25 year special survey and refit and Taylor Bros were engaged to perform particular projects whilst the rig was in the Portland, Victoria, harbour. The work included complete replacement of Mess, Scullery, Change Room and Coffee Room linings and floor coverings, replacement of galley bulkhead linings and cooking equipment, including fire suppression and fume extraction equipment. Replacement of two cabins and bathrooms, refurbishment of bridge and radio room and new furniture, and hospital refit and floor replacement, including deck structural repairs.
Complete replacement of steel deck head of engine room, including design and prefabrication in one piece to accept new air supply and exhaust system.
Replacement of high pressure Standpipe Manifold, Sonadyne tube design, fabrication and installation, Riser sheave replacement and refurbishment, replacement of Main Deck of 250 sq.metres, High pressure SS piping, Deck modifications and installation of new ER fans and exhaust systems.
The rig spent 39 days alongside in Portland Harbour, and the project engaged 300 men on day shift and 120 on night shift.
